About

Portishead Carnival is one of the oldest community events in the Bristol area, first established in 1902 and returning each June as a highlight of the town's summer calendar. The day begins with a spectacular parade starting from the Lake Grounds at midday, with floats, marching bands, walking groups and performances winding through the High Street before finishing at the Show Field on Clapton Lane.

The Show Field keeps the celebrations going through the afternoon with live music, food and drink, craft stalls, arena performances, a climbing tower, bouncy castles and activities for all ages. Entirely volunteer-run and rooted in community spirit, the carnival is as much about taking part as watching — with schools, local organisations and community groups all competing for parade awards. 2027 marks a landmark 125th anniversary, making it a particularly special year to be part of this long-running Portishead tradition.

Address: Clapton Ln, Portishead, Bristol, BS20 7RA
